The Kenton County Conservation District's Local Cost-Share Program is intended to assist Kenton County landowners to be good stewards of the land. This program offers financial and technical assistance to implement Conservation based best management practices, which improve soil and water quality, as well as wildlife habitat.
Eligibility
- To participate in this program, the property must be in Kenton County, Kentucky.
- For FY2027 conservation projects must consist of one of the following:
Removal of invasive species
Dump/trash clean-ups (urban, suburban, rural)
Pond/lake treatments that improve water quality
- Applications will be reviewed in the order they are received.
- The cost-share program continues until funds are depleted, on a first come first serve basis. Approved applications depend on the funding allocated to the program for that fiscal year.
- Households/properties can receive funding once per fiscal year.
- Applications must be submitted by property owners.
- This is a 75% match reimbursement cost-share program up to the maximum amount of $1,875, if the terms are fulfilled.
- Participants are expected to maintain projects for at least three (3) years. A maintenance agreement must be signed to be eligible for these cost-share funds. Maintenance agreements are binding for a term of three (3) years. Failure to maintain the project area will result in disqualification from all future local cost-share programs.
- Projects must be, at the discretion of the KCCD Board, based on the conservation of natural resources. Projects such as, but not limited to, decorative landscaping, ornamental fishponds, and general trash pick-up are not eligible.
- Misusing funds will result in removal from the program and may disqualify the participant from future KCCD local cost share programs.
- Please submit photographs and receipts with an expense sheet.
- Upon approval, applicants will have one calendar year to complete the project. NO EXTENSIONS WILL BE GRANTED.
- In the event that multiple owners are part of pond treatment project, ALL bordering owners must participate in the program, including maintenance agreements, to be eligible.
